This home built with passive solar building & design techniques with a moderately size footprint sits comfortably on the site with a primary focus on energy efficient and sustainable practices. The exterior has a balanced mix of recycled/reused materials consisting of reclaimed bricks and natural recycled hardwood timer to the entry and outdoor pergola. Vertical ribbed standing seam cladding has been used to the north west and north east wings of that house which give the hose a striking presence. Before even entering this home, your expectations are high. On entry this homes orientation and rammed earth surface provide a feel that is hard to beat which delivers on expectations.

This home has a balanced blend of raw elements inside and outside of the home from the burnished concrete flooring throughout the living spaces to the natural reclaimed timber joinery throughout the interior. The raked ceilings to the main living spaces and northern bedrooms/study take advantage of the northern winter sun light that warmth the concrete slab during the colder months.

This home combines both traditional and contemporary materials, styles and methods of construction that have been designed and executed in a unique manner giving this home a clearly distinguishable identity. From the start the client maintained a clear and strong brief, whilst allowing the architect to be creative with the design process with the outcome being a beautiful, finished result that sets the standards of design creativity, sustainability, energy efficiency and best building practises. This at the very least helps set the benchmark of residential standards of what we should all be trying to achieve moving forward.
