This architectural project aimed to rejuvenate an aging ex-govie home in Watson, transforming it into a modern, energy-efficient home with an added upper storey. The primary objective was to seamlessly blend historical charm with modern functionality, enhancing the overall liability of the space. The project focused on sustainability through solar passive design, insulation, and smart home technology. The upper storey addition seamlessly integrated into the existing structure, offering additional bedroom, office, panoramic views and a striking facade. Architectural features blended traditional and modern elements, emphasising open spaces and the connection to outdoor areas.
The facade of the house underwent a transformation, blending traditional elements with modern materials to create a visually striking exterior. The interior design prioritised open spaces, maximising natural light, and promoting a sense of connectivity between different areas. The use of sustainable and locally sourced materials not only contributed to a reduced environmental impact but also added a unique character to the renovated residence.
Energy efficiency was a focal point of the project, with a commitment to reducing the ecological footprint of the residence. Smart home systems were integrated, enabling residents to monitor and control energy consumption effectively. Rainwater harvesting was implemented, aligning the house with eco-friendly practices and reducing dependence on municipal resources.
