This Chapman renovation and extension project updates a classic 1970s home for modern living, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, comfort, and connection to the outdoors.
Our client’s vision was to transform their much-loved family home into a place that better responds to their lifestyle and its beautiful setting. With recent upgrades to insulation already in place, the renovation builds on this foundation to deliver a more sustainable, future-ready home.
The design introduces a small addition to the front of the home while also enhancing the flow of the existing layout. A generous covered balcony extends the living spaces outward, creating a year-round connection to the backyard and capturing sweeping views. Privacy from the street has also been carefully considered, reshaping the entry sequence and reclaiming the unused porch area as a welcoming, functional space.
Externally, the home underwent a complete refresh. The original brown brick and tiled roof was replaced with a contemporary palette and new windows throughout, giving the house a cohesive and modern character. Internally, improvements focus on efficiency and livability, with upgraded glazing, improved thermal performance, and all-electric systems replacing outdated gas services.
